Editing PDF metadata allows updating four fields: Title, Author, Subject, and Keywords. These fields help identify the document in a library, file properties, or storage system. If you do not want to keep the old descriptive data, you can choose "Delete all existing metadata." In that case, individual edit fields will be hidden because you cannot delete and update metadata at the same time.
Metadata is not the text you see on the page. Changing the Title field will not fix the title printed in the content. Deleting metadata also does not remove names, comments, hidden layers, or sensitive information located elsewhere in the PDF. After processing, use a PDF reader to open the document properties and check the fields. If preparing to share sensitive documents, you still need to review the content.

Frequently asked questions
The Title field in metadata is a descriptive attribute of the file, displayed by some readers in the title bar or Properties panel. It is independent of the text placed on the page. To change the title visible in the document, you need to edit the source content or use a PDF editor with text editing functions.
You can enter short, consistent phrases, often separated by commas, for the convenience of the document management system. However, how the reader or archive interprets this field may vary. Metadata does not make the document automatically appear in search engines and should not be stuffed with repeated keywords.
Not necessarily. Names of people or organizations can still appear in page content, comments, form field names, attachments, or other layers. This function only targets existing metadata. For documents that need to be anonymized, check the content, remove comments, and use an appropriate cleaning process before release.
Access expires after one hour and cleanup runs every five minutes. Download any results you need before they expire.
